BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - In the opening event of 2023, the Piedmont men's swim team routed Union College by a score of 153-46.
Sophomore
GLYNN MORGAN got the Lions started, picking up the first win of the event for the team in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:14.78.
In the 50 yard butterfly, Freshman
LUKE BORGMANN narrowly finished first, swimming a 25.19. He followed up that win with another close one in the 50 yard freestyle, winning by less than .03 seconds (23.20).
With a time of 1:01.59, Sophomore
ERICK FORTNER got the Lions 9 points, finishing first by nearly 10 seconds in the 100 yard breaststroke. He also dominated the 50 yard freestyle, winning that race by nearly 4 seconds with a time of 28.29. Fortner rounded out his impressive day with another win, this one in the 100 yard IM (56.66).
The Lions saw 2 more names grab wins as Freshman Baden Stweart won the 100 yard freestyle (52.63) and Junior
ZANE MORGAN won the 50 yard backstroke (30.07).
Up next, a quick turn around for the Lions as they take on Mars Hill on Saturday, January 7th.
