CARY, N.C. - Following a quick turn around, the Piedmont University men's swimming team bested William Peace in a tight contest 81-52.
It was a hot start for the Lions as the squad of
ZANE MORGAN,
JON BROWN,
ERICK FORTNER and
BADEN STEWART picked up the win in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:43.04.
The hot started carried over for
LEANDRO FORERO as he continued his dominance in the 1000 yard freestyle, winning the event in 10:27.35. In the shorter 500 yard freestyle, Forero also picked up the win, turning in a time of 5:06.37.
Sophomore
GLYNN MORGAN swam a 1:58.04 in the 200 yard freestyle and picked up the win while Morgan picked up his first individual win directly after in the 100 yard backstroke (1:01.32).
Following his efforts in the 200 yard medley relay, the sophomore Fortner narrowly out touched second place in the 100 yard breaststroke, winning the event by just 1.33 seconds. His day wasn't complete as he also picked up the win in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:16.36).
The Lions concluded the day with a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay as Forero,
BRANDON RANDALL, Morgan and
MATTHEW LUTHER turned in a time of 1:38.32.
Up next, the Lions are back in action one last time for the season as they travel to the Independent South Swimming Conference Championships, starting on Feb. 16 in Cary, N.C.
