BEREA, Ky. - The Piedmont women's basketball team concluded its five-game CCS road trip with a 77-63 loss at the hands of Berea on Sunday afternoon in Kentucky.

For the second straight game, senior COLBY REED came off the bench on fire, this time with a career-best 26 points on 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.

However, it was not enough, as the Mountaineers used a dominant third quarter to take control of the contest. Berea had two players reach the 20-point mark as Destiny Combs led the team with 22 points while Lynkaylah James poured in 20.

NAKIYAH WASHINGTON was the only other Lady Lion to reach double figures, scoring 11 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists.

The first quarter went back-and-forth until the final minutes of the period, when Berea stretched its lead to 17-12 with a 5-0 run.

The Lady Lions bounced right back with a quick 6-0 run to retake the lead at 18-17. Piedmont was efficient on the offensive end in the second quarter, shooting 58 percent from the floor. Back-to-back three-pointers from ASHLEY SCOTT and Reed gave the Lions a game-high 34-27 lead, but the Mountaineers' Jayden Merriweather drilled a three-pointer of her own at the halftime buzzer to make it 34-30 Piedmont heading to halftime.

Berea took advantage of the momentum and scored the first seven points of the second half to regain the lead at 37-34. After Piedmont tied things up at 37-all, the Mountaineers took control of the game for good, using an 11-0 run to grab its first double-digit lead of the game and never looking back on their way to the victory.
