MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Piedmont women's tennis team remained unbeaten in conference play with another 9-0 road sweep, this time at the hands of Huntingdon in Montgomery Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks challenged the Lady Lions at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles, but Piedmont emerged victorious in both and dominated the rest of the lines for its fourth consecutive sweep in conference play.

The Lady Lions put the first point of the match on the board at No. 3 doubles with an 8-5 win from MAGGIE MOODY and DAKOTA WILKES while the No. 2 doubles team of MELISSA GISH and IMANI VINCENT cruised 8-2 at No. 2.

The No. 1 doubles match was a battle, but sophomores ABBEY GRACE VENHAM and RACHEL MARSH fought through to win in a tiebreaker to send Piedmont into singles with a 3-0 lead.

In the quest to remain perfect in conference play, the Lady Lions made relatively easy work of the Hawks at No. 2 through No. 6 singles, as all were won by Piedmont in straight sets.

Venham (6-3, 6-0) made it 4-0 Lions with a dominant second set at No. 2 before Gish (6-4, 6-0) did the same at No. 3 to clinch the match at 5-0.

Sophomore MARION SLOYAN rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4 to make it 6-0 before the toughest match of the day concluded, as Vincent battled back from losing a first-set tiebreaker to win her second set, and then take a third-set superbreaker 10-8 to keep the shutout alive.

Finally, the Lady Lions received wins at No. 5 and No. 6 from Wilkes and Marsh to close out the match at 9-0.

Up next, Piedmont will host Brevard for its first USA South home match of the season. First serve is scheduled for this Wednesday, April 6 at 3:30 p.m.

NEWS AND NOTES:
- The win marks 26 conference wins in a row for the Lady Lions.
- Head Coach Trey Martin is now 19-0 in USA South matches in his fourth season as head coach.
