Records: Emory, 14-7; Piedmont, 20-5 (13-2 USA South)

DEMOREST, Ga. - For the second straight outing, the Piedmont women's basketball team saw an impressive performance by LIVIA SKINNER but could not keep pace with its opponent falling to Emory 63-49 at home. The game marked the final regular season contest for the Lady Lions as they await the USA South Conference Tournament.

It was all Eagles early in the contest as they scored the first nine points of the game before LIVIA SKINNER got on a run of her own. The senior was doing it single-handedly for Piedmont as she scored all seven points for Piedmont in the first quarter.

She would end up scoring the first 12 of the day for the Lady Lions before NAKIYAH WASHINGTON went to the charity stripe and converted a pair. In the second quarter, Piedmont was able to outscore Emory 16-13 to trail 31-23 at the break. Skinner accounted for 18 of the 23 first half points with Washington and Brittany Devane the only other Lady Lions with points in the first half.

Just six Lady Lions scored in the contest overall as Emory continued to lead throughout the second half as Piedmont cut the lead to as few as three at 33-30. That was in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Eagles built a lead as large as 17 in the final minutes.

Up next, Piedmont has clinched the No. 2 seed in the West Division for the upcoming USA South Tournament and will host a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

TURNING POINT:
--The Lady Lions struggled out of the gate with a slow start as Emory took a 19-7 lead after the first quarter.
