ATLANTA, Ga. - The Piedmont women's soccer team saw its 2022 season end at the hands of Emory in a 7-0 loss in the NCAA Tournament First Round on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.
The Eagles scored twice in the first 15 minutes and never looked back, as the Lady Lions were unable to stifle the potent offensive attack.
Emory took a 4-0 lead into halftime and then added three more goals in the second half.
Despite allowing five goals, Piedmont goalkeeper
Haylee Dornan totaled 15 saves, tying her career-high from the regular season matchup with the Eagles.
The Lady Lions conclude yet another highly successful season in which they captured a share of the Collegiate Conference of the South regular season title and took home the first ever CCS Tournament Championship.
TURNING POINT:
- The Eagles blitzed the Lions from the beginning of the game, scoring four times in the first 25 minutes of game action.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Emory's Mia Han scored the first three goals of the contest, all coming in the first half.
