BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Piedmont women's soccer team battled Birmingham-Southern to a scoreless draw on Monday evening in Birmingham.
The Lady Lions and Panthers played an even match with BSC holding a 17-16 shot advantage.Â
However, Piedmont did hold an 8-6 edge in shots on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper
MADI WILSON earned the start in goal for the Lady Lions and made six saves. That continues a positive trend for the Piedmont goalkeepers as freshman
LAILA ALLEN made seven saves in the season opener against Berry Saturday and was rewarded with USA South Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Junior forward
KAYLEE KING was the only Lady Lion to have more than one shot attempt, as she totaled four with two being on goal.
Up next, the Lady Lions will remain on the road and take on Mary Baldwin this Thursday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Sophomore
MADI WILSON continued the outstanding play of Piedmont goalkeepers through the team's first two contests. Through two games, the Lady Lions have not allowed a goal and have 13 total saves.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Piedmont held off a late BSC rally as the Panthers held a 3-1 edge in shots in the second overtime period.
