COMMERCE, Ga. - May 1st and 2nd, 2021, the Piedmont Cycling team competed at the Commerce Stage Race. The stage race was a two-day event with two races on Saturday, the road race followed by the time trial, along with a criterium on Sunday.
In the men's category 4 road race, JADEN GRIMES took 2nd place. In the women's category 4 race, RHYLEE WITTROCK also took 2nd place. For the men's cat 3 road race on Saturday, SAM RIDEOUT placed eighth. Quill martin placed 13th in the men's cat 5 race.
The time trial quickly followed the road race. The time trial consists of one lap of the course used for the road race. Wittrock managed to grab another 2nd place finish in the women's cat 4 race. Grimes also raced to a 2nd place finish for the men's cat 4 race. In the men's cat 3 race, Rideout earned a 4th place finish. Martin finished in 8th place for the men's cat 5 race.
In the Criterium on Sunday, RHYLEE WITTROCK's first time competing in a criterium, she earned the top spot, finishing in 1st place for the women's cat 4 race. Grimes placed 2nd in a sprint finish for the cat 4 men's race. Rideout placed 4th for the men's cat 4 race.
For the overall standing of the Commerce stage race, Grimes and Wittrock placed 2nd in their respective categories and Rideout placing 3rd.
This coming weekend the team will compete in the fourth race of the Southeast gravel series.
