Cycling Posts Strong Finish at Assault on Currahee Mountain Gravel Race

DEMOREST, Ga. - During the weekend, the Piedmont Cycling team competed in the Assault on Currahee Mountain gravel race.
 
Jadan Grimes, Conely Wilhem, and SAM RIDEOUT all finished in the top ten. During the final climb of the race, Grimes battled for a place in the top three, finishing in third with Wilhem following close behind finishing fourth.

Rideout experienced a minor mechanical issue but was able to catch back up to the lead group. He eventually fell behind and finished the race placing eighth. These strong finishes allowed the men to dominate the top ten in the Open Male Long category. 

RHYLEE WITTROCK competed in the Open Women Long Category. Her training is producing results, earning her a first place finish.
 
QUILL MARTIN finished second in the Clydesdale long Category. He stayed with the first place finisher for ten miles, then held on to second place. 
 
MICHAEL MACK and MINDY GARVIN-LEIGHTON competed in the Short Open categories. Michael finished third while Mindy placed fifth. 
 
This weekend the team will race on the road in Clemson, South Carolina.
