SHREVEPORT, La. – The Piedmont women's soccer team concluded its Texas trip on Sunday by splitting a doubleheader.
The Lady Lions (1-2) began the day with a dominant 2-1 victory over LeTourneau (0-3-1) before falling in the nightcap to Centenary (2-0).
GAME 1: PIEDMONT 2, LeTOURNEAU 1
Piedmont began the day with a convincing win over the Yellow Jackets, controlling possession and enjoying a 20-3 edge in shots.
The Lady Lions struck in the 22
nd minute on
AMANDA WEINHART's first goal of the season. Weinhart led the team last season with six goals.
After an 11-0 advantage in shots in the first half, Piedmont wasted no time extending its lead in the second half as
CASSIE KIRK delivered her first goal of 2021 just over two minutes into the second.
LeTourneau was able to cut its deficit to a single goal with a strike from Kara Gipson in the 75th minute.
However, it was not enough, as the Lady Lions held on to claim their first win of the season,
MIRANDA MCNALLEY, picked up the win in goal, giving her a program record 44 for her career, breaking the mark set by Kaitlyn Induni (2007-10).

GAME 2: CENTENARY 3, PIEDMONT 0
While the shot count was even for the contest, the Lady Lions were unable to create a goal in their first shutout loss of the season.
Centenary's Avery Gilbert scored in the game's sixth minute and the Ladies (2-0) never looked back from there.
The shot count was even at 5-5 going into the halftime break, but Centenary struck early in the second half on a goal from Sydney Bascomb and added an insurance goal late to remove all doubt.
SARAH FISHER, who scored in Piedmont's season opener on Friday night, led the team with three shots (two on goal).
The loss concludes the team's season-opening trip to Texas with a 1-2 record. The Lady Lions will return home to open up conference play this Saturday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m. against Huntingdon.
