BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Piedmont women's soccer team earned a convincing 4-0 win on the road at Southern Virginia Saturday. Piedmont's scoring onslaught started early with a goal inside the first minute of play.

Just 17 seconds into the contest, Piedmont's KAYLEE KING played it forward to GABBIE HAYES who scored her second goal as a Lady Lion and.  The goal marks the second time in the last three games in which Hayes has opened the scoring for PC.

After a hot start, it was a relatively quiet first half and neither team scored before the break giving Piedmont a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Lions had multiple opportunities in the first half as AVERY PERRY had a pair of shots on goal in the 33rd and 35th minutes, but Southern Virginia's Alyssa Trueman saved both attempts.

MADI WILSON started in goal and accounted for a pair of saves, both coming in the second half. Piedmont's scoring frenzy began quickly out of the break as King scored in the 47th minute with a penalty kick goal followed by another offensive opportunity and conversion by Mandy Weinhart in the 49th minute.

Weinhart's goal was off an assist by CASSIE KIRK, her first of the season. SYDNEY KRAUSE joined the party with a goal in the 61st minute to cap the scoring as King added her second assist in the game. Wilson's saves came in the 56th and 70th minutes.

Up next, the Lady Lions head home for conference play hosting LaGrange at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
