TUCSON, Ariz. - The Piedmont College softball team rebounded from an 8-1 loss to George Fox and took down Alma, 8-4, to cap off day one at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Tucson.

Game 1 : George Fox 8, Piedmont 1

The morning got off to an inauspicious start for the Lady Lions as the Bruins used a pair of early home runs to take control of the game early.

Already with a 3-0 lead after three, George Fox extended its lead with two more runs in the fourth.

Down 8-0 heading into its final frame, PC was able to crack the scoreboard on REBEKAH STEGMAYER's RBI single to make the final 8-1.

The Lady Lions collected eight hits but were struck out 11 times for the game.

Game 2: Piedmont 8, Alma 4

The Lady Lions bounced back with a comeback win in game two of its opening day in Arizona thanks to a five-run third inning.

The Scots jumped in front with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first before Piedmont answered in the top of the second on a MACIE ALLEN RBI single.

After Alma increased its lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the second, PC turned the tide by scoring five runs on three hits in the deciding third highlighted by KAYLEE WHITE's two RBI double.

The Lady Loins held that lead the rest of the way, tacking on single runs in the fifth and seventh while holding the Scots to just one run in the bottom of the fifth.

White scored four runs to lead PC while delivering three hits and two RBI.

Starting pitcher MARTINA MALOCH settled in, scattering 11 hits over seven innings to earn her third win of the season.
