SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Piedmont women's tennis team fell at Sewanee in a 9-0 sweep on Saturday evening at the Charlotte Guerry Indoor Tennis Courts.
 
After playing into the early hours of Saturday morning in their 8-1 spring-opening win against Hanover, the Lady Lions (2-1) were unable to take a match against a strong Tigers (1-0) squad.
 
MAGGIE MOODY made her spring doubles debut, falling, 8-4, with KARA LANDSIEDEL at No. 2. The duo of IMANI VINCENT and SAMANTHA LOWRY battled at No. 3, but fell, 8-6, to Taylor Sprouse and Sarah Gray as Sewanee swept all three doubles lines.
 
The Tigers took complete control in singles, winning all six matches in two sets. Vincent forced Darby Duval to a tiebreaker in the first set, but lost it, 7-5, and the match, 7-6 (5), 6-1.
 
Up next, the Lady Lions return home to host Berry on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m.
