WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –  The Piedmont College women's soccer team's season came to an end on Saturday, as Salem College won 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the USA South Athletic Conference tournament at Varsity Field.

Salem (12-5-1) entered Saturday as the No. 2 seed out of the East Division while Piedmont (14-7-1) was the No. 3 seed from the West Division.

The Spirits scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute after Callie Adams collected a loose ball off a Salem free kick and found the back of the net.

Salem then added an insurance goal in the 40th minute off another set piece to pull ahead 2-0.

At halftime, each team had eight shots apiece with five of Piedmont's being on goal.

The second half was dominated by the Lady Lions as they outshot Salem 19-2. Piedmont had several scoring opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net.
