DANVILLE, Va. – The Piedmont College women's basketball team bounced back with a 75-69 win over William Peace on Saturday afternoon in the Cougar Tip-Off, hosted by Averett.

The Lady Lions (2-2) built a double-digit lead early in the fourth quarter, but were unable to put the Pacers (2-1) away. Leading just 71-69 in the final two minutes, freshman forward
ALEXIS WARE scored Piedmont's final two field goals to help seal the victory.

AMARI PRICE was outstanding once again, scoring a game-high 26 points, to go with a season-high eight assists and six rebounds.
NAKIYAH WASHINGTON was in double figures for the third consecutive game, scoring 15 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

Neither team was able to separate throughout most of the first quarter, but the Pacers used a late 6-0 run to take a 21-16 lead after 10 minutes.

Piedmont continued the momentum into the second quarter, outscoring William Peace, 9-0, over the first 2:34 of the period, culminating with a  Washington jumper. PC held the lead the rest of the half, taking a 48-37 advantage into the locker room after a 32-point quarter.

After the Lady Lions were close to taking complete control on several occasions in the third quarter, the Pacers used an 11-5 run over the final minutes of the third quarter to cut into Piedmont's lead.

Four points by Price in the early minutes of the fourth pushed PC's lead back to 11. However, the Pacers did not go away, as they were able to cut their deficit to 71-69 with 2:21 remaining.Â

PC was able to close the door by holding William Peace scoreless over the final two minutes, as Ware's two late field goals sealed the victory.

- Piedmont held William Peace scoreless over the final 2-plus minutes to escape with the win.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

AMARI PRICE did it all again for the Lady Lions, scoring 26 points, dishing out eight assists, grabbing five rebounds and making three steals.
- She was joined in double figures by freshman forward
NAKIYAH WASHINGTON, who scored 15 points in 28 minutes off the bench.
ASHLYN ELLISON added 11 points.
