DEMOREST, Ga. – AMARI PRICE set the program's single season assist record as the Piedmont College women's basketball team rolled past Agnes Scott, 70-40, on Wednesday night at Cave Arena.
The Lady Lions (16-3, 10-0 USA South) scored 19 points in each of the first three quarters and led wire-to-wire to pick up their 10th
straight win and remain undefeated in the USA South.
It was a historic night for Price, who tallied six assists to give her 127 for the season, breaking Lori Vaughan's single season Piedmont record, set in the 2004-05 season.
The junior from Hiram, Georgia also tallied a career-high six three-pointers and picked up 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
The Scotties (1-18, 1-9 USA South) were able to stay within striking distance in the first quarter as the Lady Lions led 19-13 heading into the second period.
Piedmont used a 7-0 run midway through the second quarter to grab a 15-point lead. Price made five three-pointers in the first half as the Lady Lions led by 17 points at the break.
With 5:27 left in the third quarter,
JATASIA BAILEY connected on a three-pointer off an inbounds pass from Price, giving her the PC record and giving the Lady Lions their first lead of 20 or more points in the game.
From there, Agnes Scott was unable to cut its deficit to under 20, as Piedmont ran out the clock and won its third straight conference contest by more than 25 points.
Up next, the Lady Lions return to the road to battle LaGrange next Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
- Leading by six at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Lions used a 12-3 run over the first five and a half minutes of the second to build a 31-16 lead from which the Scotties never recovered.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- In just 26 minutes,
AMARI PRICE produced the unbelievable stat line of 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, two blocks, two steals and zero turnovers. She also made 6-of-10 three-pointers.

ASHLYN ELLISON tallied a season-high seven assists.

JATASIA BAILEY added 14 points with four rebounds and three assists.
NEWS AND NOTES:
- Piedmont has now won 10 straight games overall as well as 10 in a row to begin the conference season.
- The Lady Lions have not started the conference season at 10-0 or better since they started 13-0 in 2015-16.
- PC tallied a season-high 22 assists as a team
