LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Piedmont College women's tennis team defeated the Covenant Scots Friday on the Scots' home court 7-2. The loss snapped a 19-match conference regular season win streak for Covenant as the Scots had not lost a USA South match since February 2016.
CAROLINE CONNELLY clinched the match in singles play at #2 with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 win. That was the only match that would go to three sets on the day.
Connelly and
MAGGIE MOODY were in a tight battle at #2 doubles as well claiming an 8-6 win.
MORGAN BUCHHOLZ and
MEGAN WALDHEIM won 8-3 at #1 while
KARA LANDSIEDEL and
CRYSALIN GLORIA took an 8-4 decision at #3.
After sweeping doubles play, the Scots would get their first win at #1 singles 6-1, 6-0. Waldheim made it 4-1 in favor of the Lions with a 6-1, 6-4 win at #3 and Connelly clinched at #2.
Piedmont also took wins at #5 and #6 from Landsiedel and
KARINA RIVERA, respectively.
