DEMOREST, Ga. - In the 2018 USA South opener for the Piedmont College women's tennis team, the Lady Lions rolled to a 9-0 win over the visiting Scots of Maryville College. A freshman-dominant lineup led Piedmont to victory as nine of the 12 individuals who saw the court are in their first season for Piedmont.
It was a tight match at #1 doubles as
MAGGIE MOODY and
MEGAN WALDHEIM pulled off an 8-6 win to close out the doubles competition.
MEGAN MCKAY and
DURDEN SMITH managed a straight sets win 8-0 at #2 and
LILY MCNEEL and
MATTIE WOOD combined for an 8-2 win at #3 doubles.
In singles competition, it was
KARA LANDSIEDEL who clinched the match with a win at #3 singles 6-1, 6-0.
CRYSALIN GLORIA was the lone Lady Lion to avoid dropping a set in singles play as she went 6-0, 6-0 at #6 singles.
