SEWANEE, Tn. - To open the 2018 season, the Piedmont College women's tennis team took on North Carolina Wesleyan in a late match losing a tough 6-3 decision. Piedmont's three wins came in singles play at #1, #4 and #5.
CAROLINE CONNELLY posted the win at #1 singles 6-4, 6-3 while working with
MAGGIE MOODY at #2 doubles.
MEGAN WALDHEIM posted a comeback win at #4 dropping the first set then forcing a third which she won 10-5. Waldheim partnered with
MORGAN BUCHHOLZ at #1 doubles as they lost a tough, close match.
The final win came from
KARA LANDSIEDEL at #5 as she won 9-7.
Turning Point
--It was all tied up at three's after singles play, but the Battling Bishops swept the doubles competition to seal the win.
Standout Performances
--Piedmont's three wins came from freshmen in their first appearance for the Lady Lions.
Up Next
--The Lady Lions are set to return to action Sunday taking on Sewanee.
