Bailey's 22-Point Performance Leads the Lady Lions to 69-50 Win Over Wesleyan

MACON, GA – The Piedmont College women's basketball team closed the regular season with a road victory over Wesleyan 69-50. JATASIA BAILEY led the way for PC as she knocked down 22-points against the Wolves.

Wesleyan scored on their opening possession and took a 5-1 lead over the Lady Lions in the first 45-seconds of the contest. Senior CARLIE SHIELDS would hit a three followed shortly by a mid-range jumper from AMARI PRICE to give PC the lead. This offensive action would spark an 11-point run with Bailey knocking down her first points of a season-high showing. Piedmont was able to hold on to the lead closing the first quarter 19-11.

The Wolves struck first again to lead off the second quarter, but Price would answer with four points scored in thirty seconds. Price would score again to give PC an eight-point lead after three minutes. The Lady Lions would continue with the scoring trend and end the first half leading 34-21.

Midway through the third, BRIDGETTE KELLY would send one from deep to put PC up by 21 with Bailey credited with the assist. In the final two-minutes of the quarter, the Lady Lions were outscored 6-2 as the Wolves closed the game to 53-36.

With less than four left in the fourth, Piedmont scored 12 to the Wolves five. RAEGINE NEWKIRK would go to the line and sink her two from the charity stripe as PC took the win 69-50.  

Turning Point
--The Lady Lions took the lead at the 8:20 mark in the first quarter and would hold on throughout. 

Standout Performances
--JATASIA BAILEY gathered a season high 22-points against the Wolves. 

News & Notes
--This closes out the Lady Lions' regular season as PC finishes second in the USA South West Division.

Up Next
--The Lady Lions will take on the winner of the first round contest between LaGrange and Maryville on Saturday at 2 p.m.
