Demorest ,GA - The Piedmont College softball team picked up a doubleheader split with Covenant College Saturday dropping the first contest 1-0 but rebounding to win the second game 4-1. The Lady Lions sit at 14-6 in conference play with one series remaining against Maryville College on Sunday.
In game one, the Scots got on the board quickly with a run in the first inning off a pair of hits and a hit by pitch that started the game. That lone run was all the Scots needed as Piedmont could only manage three hits against Carsyn Stone who moved to 8-6 with the win.
Game two saw Piedmont's bats come back to life as they had nine hits but no player had a multi-hit game as it was a team effort. The Lady Lions took the lead in the bottom of the first as
HANNAH HOBAN doubled to drive in
HALEY HIXON, then in the third, it was Hoban again who was at the plate when another run scored as
ALLYSON GENTRY scored on an error by the pitcher.
It was not until the sixth inning that the Scots would get on the board with one run on two hits as
MELISSA ECKMAN allowed just four hits in the outing. Piedmont's youth shown bright in the bottom of the sixth as
RAYVEN LAWRENCE doubled to score
AUDREY ESAKOFF while
RACHEL OBERHOLTZER singled to score
KORY BEST.
Turning Point
--The Scots' lone run came in the top of the first in game one after a pair of hits and a hit by pitch.

HANNAH HOBAN was responsible for the first run of the game and was at the plate for the game winner off a flyout to centerfield coupled with an error by the pitcher to score
ALLYSON GENTRY.
Standout Performances
--The Scots' Carsyn Stone pitched the complete game allowing just three hits to the Lady Lions in game one.

MELISSA ECKMAN won her 12th game of the season pitching the complete game giving up just one run and four hits while striking out seven batters.
Inside the Box Score
--It was a complete team effort across the board as the Lady Lions had nine hits in the second contest but no individual accounted for more than one hit.
News & Notes
--Piedmont has just two conference games remaining against Maryville College on Sunday and is two games back of first place Salem College who sits at 16-6 after splitting with Maryville Saturday.
