A pair of home runs by the Bombers proved to be the difference in the game as all three runs for Ithaca came on homers.
Piedmont was able to record the first run of the day in the top of the fourth as
LAURA CARTER reached on an error and then was caught in a run down eventually being out on the play but did allow
HALEY MCCURRY to score. The game was tied in the bottom of the frame with a solo shot by the Bombers.
Another home run for Ithaca in the bottom of the sixth inning, this time a two-run bomb for the Bombers, put them on top for good. The Bombers had just five hits in the game while Piedmont had four.
SARAH WALKER took the loss moving to 6-4 as she pitched 5.1 innings giving up five hits and all three runs while striking out two.Â
Turning Point--Ithaca had a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead heading into the final inning.Â
Standout Performances--A pair of home runs scored all three runs for Ithaca with a solo shot tying the game and a two-run shot giving them the lead.Â
Inside the Box Score--
JESSICA BAGWELL was the only Lady Lion in the game to account for multiple hits as she was 2-for-4 in the contest with half the Lady Lions' total hits.Â
News & Notes--Piedmont went 1-4 over the weekend at the NFCA Leadoff Classic taking on three ranked teams. Up NextThe Lady Lions host Emory & Henry College on Wednesday at noon with a doubleheader on the slate.Â
