Demorest, GA - Playing their final regular season game of the 2016 season, the Piedmont College women's soccer team was unable to finish off the Scots of Maryville College falling 1-0 in USA South action.

The Scots' game-winning goal came in the 74th minute as a free kick service from the right flank was batted around in the goal box before Maryville's Natasha Enrique tucked it away for the late lead. 

Piedmont outshot the Scots 8-6 in the contest but could not find the back of the net with Maryville keeper Mandy Marshall making five saves to preserve the shutout for visiting Maryville.

The Lady Lions have already secured a spot in the USA South Championship Tournament but the final standings are not yet set in the West Division as the top four teams all played each other this weekend.

Turning Point
--Against the run of play, Maryville was able to net the gamewinner on a free kick that batted around the 6-yard box before the Scots tucked it away.  

Standout Performances
--Maryville's back line stood tall against a potent Piedmont attack for 90 minutes as the Lady Lions were shutout for the first time in six games.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont took two corners in the final minute with several headers deflected away before the visiting Scots were able to escape with the win.  

News & Notes
--Piedmont came into Saturday's contest with a 3-0-1 record vs. the Scots in their last four meetings dating back to the 2014 season.
--The Lady Lions also owned a five-match winning streak overall on the year which started with a 4-0 win over Wesleyan on October 8 before falling to Maryville.

Up Next
With the regular season complete, Piedmont will now await official word from the conference office on its next contest as the 1st round of the USA South Championship Tournament is set to take place on Wednesday, October 26 with quarterfinals to take place on Saturday, October 29.
