Women's Soccer Shuts Out William Peace 2-0 to Stay Undefeated in 2015

Raleigh, NC - The Piedmont College women's soccer team picked up a goal in each half of Friday's 2-0 win over William Peace University in the team's third USA South game of the year.

With the win, Piedmont stays perfect both in USA South play at 3-0 and overall at now 8-0 improving on the program's best start to a season in the NCAA Era.

SARAH WEBER scored in the 26th minute to give Piedmont the advantage with CASSIDY REICH getting the assist on the goal.  The freshman duo combined for the score on Piedmont's 6th shot of the first half as the Lady Lions dominated the run of play with more than 20 shots to just one for the Pacers.

In the second half, PC picked up the pressure holding the Pacers in their own half for much of the final 45 minutes.  Piedmont picked up its second goal when JAZMIN PENADO headed a William Peace goal kick back past the Pacers' back four with CASSIDY REICH running onto the ball and finishing for her conference-leading 8th goal of the season and a 2-0 win.

Turning Point
--SARAH WEBER's breakthrough goal in the 26th minute that gave Piedmont a 1-0 lead, her third goal of the 2015 season.

Standout Performances
--CASSIDY REICH had a goal and an assist on the day, her third game this season tallying at least a goal and an assist.
--MICHAELA GARDNER posts yet another shutout, the 7th time she has kept a clean sheet in 2015.

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont had eight corners without giving up one to William Peace.
--PC also struck the woodwork three times, twice hitting the crossbar and seeing another clash off the post in more than 20 shots on the day.

News & Notes
--CASSIDY REICH now leads the USA South in total points, goals, and assists.
--The conference loss is the first for the Pacers who came in with a 2-0 record in the league, same as Piedmont after the Lady Lions won their first two conference games last weekend.
