Need to KnowScore: Piedmont 52, Berry 65Records: Lady Lions 1-3, Vikings 3-3Location: Atlanta, Georgia - Pinholster Court at Dorough Field HouseAtlanta, GA - In the second of two games at the USA South/SAA Classic, the Piedmont College women's basketball team fell by 13 to Berry College 65-52 after the Vikings used a key run to pull away from the Lady Lions in the 4th quarter.
Piedmont entered the 4th trailing only by four, but watched Berry go on a 10-2 run to begin the period capped off by back-to-back three pointers that allowed the Vikings to take control down the stretch.
Two Lady Lions were in double figures on the afternoon including sophomore
CARLIE SHIELDS who posted 14 points on close to 50% shooting from the field. Joining her teammate in double digits was
LE'SHAUNDA JONES who had 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting with all six attempts coming inside the arc.
Berry was paced by Emma Cook's 29 points which led all scorers with only one other Viking in double figures on the afternoon. The loss drops Piedmont to 1-3 on the season after the Lady Lions opened with a 44-point win at Toccoa Falls to start the year.
Turning Point--Berry's offensive output in the 4th quarter which distanced the two squads as the Vikings went on a 10-2 run to start the period after entering the final 10 minutes with a slim 4-point advantage.
Standout Performances--Berry's Emma Cook led all scorers with her 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the floor including a 3-of-5 showing from downtown.

CARLIE SHIELDS led the Lady Lions with her 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting while also tying for the top spot in rebounds with six.
Inside the Box Score--Piedmont was out-rebounded for the second time in three games as OU held a 55-40 edge in that column.
--The difference
between the two came at the three-point line as Berry connected on better than 41% while Piedmont shot 19% from beyond the arc.
News & Notes--Piedmont came into today's matchup with a 2-1 record against Berry in the USA South/SAA Classic with its only loss coming in 2013-14.
--Sunday's loss marked the first time that PC has dropped both contests of the USA South/SAA Classic since playing in the tourney as a first-year USA South member in 2012 with an appearance each season since.Up NextThe Lady Lions will now travel up to Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for its next contest. Piedmont defeated Salem in the last matchup between these two by 26 points last December. Tip-off in the December 5 showdown with the Spirits is set for 2:00 pm.
