THE COACHES
In her 10th season leading the Lady Lions, Jamie Purdy recently picked up her 200th overall career victory as a college coach with a dominant 81-60 win over Covenant College on Wednesday night in the Cave.  Purdy has won 169 games at the helm of the Lady Lion basketball program and, with two more wins this season, would have her 6th season of at least 17 wins in a season over the last 11 seasons as a college coach.

As one of the most well-respected coaches around the South Region, Maryville Head Coach Darrin Travillian has his program receiving national recognition once again holding the #18 ranking in the latest WBCA/USA Today Coaches Poll.  Travillian owned a .786 winning percentage heading into the season making him the winningest coach in Maryville women's basketball history.

SCOUTING MARYVILLE
Maryville is currently 16-1 and leading the South Division of the USA South with an undefeated 8-0 mark in league play.  The Scots lead the conference in 3-pt. field goal percentage hitting on 38.1% with the next closest in that category, the Lady Lions, hitting on 32.9%.  Maryville is also the best in the league from the charity stripe and turns the ball over the least of any league team (15.7 per).

SERIES RECORDS
In the Travillian Era at Marvyille, the Scots are 7-1 against Purdy's Lady Lions though Piedmont's lone win did come in the last meeting between these two back on February 19 of 2014.  That win was a key one for PC assuring the Lady Lions of a top 3 finish in the South Division and a spot in last year's championship tourney.  When these two shared conference ties as GSAC members, Purdy's first two conference titles as the leader of the Lady Lions came with wins over Maryville in the GSAC Championship Game, a 60-59 win in 2007 and a 16-point win the following year.

200 WINS FOR PIEDMONT LEADER
Jamie Purdy picked up a career milestone in Piedmont's 81-60 win over Covenant on Wednesday night as the victory was the 200th in Purdy's college coaching career, a now 12-year tenure with ten coming here at Piedmont.  Purdy's first two seasons came at Middle Georgia before she took over at PC.  Purdy's 200th win coming at home should come as no surprise for those tracking the Lady Lions during her tenure as she is 90-25 in games played in Cave Arena since taking over in 2005.

LAST TIME OUT: V. COVENANT COLLEGE (W, 81-60)
Piedmont won by 21 points in its last action and picked up its 6th win by 20 points or more this season with an 81-60 win over visiting Covenant College on Wednesday in Cave Arena. The win was the 15th overall for PC and 8th in USA South play as the Lady Lions scored 80 or more for the 10th time in 17 games.

Four Lady Lions were in double figures on the evening led by a pair of 17-point scorers in freshman DAKOTA SULLENS and sophomore JULIANNE BAYER.  Each connected on seven field goals as Bayer was a perfect 2-for-2 from 3-point land.  Sullens came up one rebound shy of a double-double on the evening while Bayer pulled down seven boards herself.

The turning point in the contest came with 11:18 remaining in the first half and Piedmont nursing a 2-point lead (14-12).  For the next 7-plus minutes, Piedmont did not allow Covenant to tally a single point scoring 24 unanswered to blow the game wide open with still a few minutes to go before the intermission.

NEXT UP FOR PIEDMONT
Piedmont hits the road for the next three games on the schedule with road challenges at LaGrange on February 4, Huntingdon on February 7, and Covenant on February 11.
