Women's Basketball Falls to Maryville 69-43

Lauren Hamel led the Lady Lions with 14 points as the team dropped the USA Conference game to Maryville College 69-43.
Box Score MARYVILLE, Tennessee -- ThePiedmont College women's basketball team dropped it's third consecutive USA South Conference game this afternoon at host Maryville College by the score of 69-43. The host Scots were able to connect on 27-56 (48%) of their shots from the floor to take their 19th conference win.

Maryville (19-3, 13-2 USA South) set the tone early in the game and established a 25-9 lead midway through the first half.  The Scots would keep the Lions at arms distance for the remainder of the half, taking a 16-point lead (36-20) into the locker room at the break. 

In the second frame the home team forced 15 turnovers and connected on 12-28 (43%) baskets to maintain the double-digit advantage.   

The Lady Lions were led by LAUREN HAMEL who posted 14 points while teammate LAUREN ANDERSON added seven points and four rebounds. Maryville was led by Tayler Smith who notched a double-double of 16 points and 10 boards.    

Piedmont (9-12, 5-10 USA South) will travel to USA South Conference member Ferrum College tomorrow, February 10 with tip-off slated for 2:00 PM.
