Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College women's basketball team used a balanced scoring output and a disruptive defensive effort to end a five-game losing streak as the Lady Lions posted a 63-51 USA South Athletic Conference victory over the visiting Angels of Meredith College on Friday in Cave Arena. Four Lady Lions scored in double-figures and the PC defense forced 28 Meredith turnovers en route to the squad's first conference victory of the season.
Piedmont raced out of a 17-5 lead after the game's first ten minutes and would lead by as many as 16 in the first half thanks mostly to a stingy defense that forced Meredith into 17 turnovers before the break. The Lady Lions would lead 34-21 at intermission.
The Lady Lions would lead 41-29 before an 11-1 run by Meredith would trim the PC lead to just two (42-40). After a three-pointer by MC's Bryana Holmes cut the Piedmont lead to three (52-49), the Lady Lions would respond with a decisive 11-2 run to finish the game.

ALYSSA JONES led four Lady Lions in double-figures with a team-best 11 points while
LAUREN HAMEL, Kiki Thompson and
ELISE REYES each chipped in with 10 apiece. Reyes provided solid minutes off the bench netting her points along with five rebounds in just 16 minutes of action.
LAUREN ANDERSON grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Holmes would finish with 15 points with all damage coming on a 5-6 performance from three-point land. Keyanka Bailey added 13 points and 8 rebounds.
The victory moves Piedmont to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in USA South play and drops Meredith to 4-7 and 1-4 in league action. The Lady Lions return to action tomorrow afternoon with the back end of a conference weekend as the team plays host to William Peace University with tip off set for 4:00 in Cave Arena.
