Demorest, GA - Piedmont used four 3-pointers in the first half en route to a 78-72 win over the visiting Huntingdon Lady Hawks. The Lady Lions held a 10-point lead at the half, as senior
Amber Satterfield had a pair of tri-fectas and 10 points going into the locker room. The women moved to 15-3 overall and 7-2 in Great South Athletic Conference play in the win.

Alyssa Jones got the Lady Lions started strong with an outside shot and a layup for the game's first seven points. Senior
Shanice Wheeler and Satterfield added triples moments later to give Piedmont a quick 11-4 jumpstart on the Lady Hawks. However, seven unanswered points by the visitors tied the game at 11 five minutes into the half. Piedmont responded with a 13-3 run to pull ahead by 10 at the 8:34 mark.
Huntingdon came up with a key 3-pointer to close to within three points as time dwindled down, but the home team scored three consecutive baskets to pad the lead back to nine. Satterfield knocked down another downtown dagger to end the half, sending the Lady Lions to the locker room with a comfortable 10-point cushion.
Coming out of the break, it took over three minutes for the Lady Lions to record a field goal, yet they still held a nine point advantage. Freshman
Symone Ball hit a clutch jumper to end Huntingdon's 7-0 run that saw it pull within two points of Piedmont. A mere 30 seconds later Ball came up with a huge tri-fecta, making the lead four. An 8-2 mini run for the Lady Lions pushed the lead to 10 once more. The Lady Lions' defense buckled down and held the Lady Hawks to zero points from the field in a key three-minute span. Huntingdon scored again with 24 seconds remaining to make it a four-point contest. Jones was sent to the line and sealed the win by converting on both tries to give Piedmont the six-point victory.
Jones led the team with a powerful double-double, scoring 15 points while hauling in 11 boards, and nearly made it a triple-double by adding seven assists.
SADA WHEELER also finished just shy of a triple-double, dropping in 14 points, adding 11 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Shanice Wheler also led in scoring with 15 points of her own, adding seven rebounds and four helpers. Satterfield also reached double figures with 12 points, while Ball was the fifth player in the double-digit scoring with 10 points. Junior
Keiondria Thompson chipped in with nine points.
Piedmont returns to action Tuesday at 6:00 pm at Agnes Scott College. The Lady Lions defeated the Lady Scotties by 16 in their GSAC opener at the beginning of the month.
