Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College women's basketball team cruised to another Great South Athletic Conference victory defeating league member Huntingdon College 80-47 earlier today in the Cave. The Lady Lions forced 20 turnovers from the Lady Hawks to earn the 33 point victory at home on senior night claiming the third seed in the upcoming GSAC tournament.
Veteran post player
Laura Simmons was just a point shy of a double-double performance in her senior night game capping a stellar four-year career for the Gainesville native. Simmons pulled down 13 boards to go with her nine points as she led the team to a 40th conference victory in the four years the forward spent at PC.
Leading the way in the scoring column was freshman guard
Lauren Hamel who came off the bench to tally 16 total points connecting on seven of her eight shots from the field. Hamel's lone miss from the field came on a three-point try that snapped a streak of four straight shots without a miss.
Grabbing yet another double-double was junior
Sada Wheeler who snagged ten boards and dropped in 11 points on the night. Hitting five of her six shots from the field, Wheeler now has a league leading 11 double-doubles in 2010-11.

Amber Satterfield was on point once more scoring 13 total points including a pair of back-to-back threes that go the home fans on their feet. Leading the way in assists was savvy point guard
Alyssa Jones who dished out five helpers on the day to go with her eight rebounds.
The victory improves PC to 17-8 on the season overall while the Lady Lions finish league play at 11-3. Piedmont will now host a quick rematch with the Lady Hawks in a GSAC quarterfinal match-up set to begin at 6:00 on Tuesday, February 22 in the Cave.
