Demorest, GA -- As new and returning student-athletes arrive on campus for another year of athletic competition, the Department of Athletics at Piedmont College is currently in the process of a cosmetic makeover. Added office space new head coaches, fresh paint on the walls, and classic Piedmont College athletic logos are only a few of the changes happening around PC athletics this fall.
With this academic year marking the second decade of the Johnny Mize Athletic Center housing the Piedmont Department of Athletics, improvements are being made throughout the building to keep pace with the growing number of student-athletes and intercollegiate sports at PC. With the addition of men's lacrosse this past spring, office space was created for the sport's first head coach Peter Manderano while cross country head coach Scott Stanley and golf head coach Dusty Rogers also moved into the new annex.
Piedmont's original athletic office has also seen some transformation with furniture being replaced to refurbish the office lobby. Images of current and former student-athletes as well as classic Piedmont College athletic logos now don the freshly painted walls of the Department of Athletics to honor the college's tradition. Throughout the office is new directional signage as well.
The changes in the Department of Athletics come in the midst of many renovations surrounding the athletic department as new fields are currently under construction while an updated athletic website is set to launch in mid-August. All of these changes come as the number of student-athletes at Piedmont College now stands at over 200 participants overall.
