Jekyll Island, GA -- The Piedmont College women's golf team set a new 54-hole scoring record en route to a 15th place finish at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.  The tournament featured 23 of the nation's top NCAA Division III teams including eight teams ranked in the top 20.

Piedmont posted scores of 356-359-365--1080 to earn a 15th place finish marking the team's best finish at the tournament in five trips to the island.  The 54-hole score of 1080 bettered the previous team score record by 23 strokes.

Maria Carter led the team with a 87-86-82--255 which was good for a 30th place finish out of 129 golfers.  Her 54-hole total of 255 also set a new school record of 39-over breaking the previous record held by LYNNE LASETER by two strokes.  Additionally, her final round 82 (+10) was the best-ever single round score at Jekyll Island for the women's program.

Cayla Banks finished in a tie for 59th with a 90-89-88--267 while Kimberley Tucker (88-87-98--273), Bethann Rogers (91-97-97--285) and Ashley Rutledge (104-102-103--309) rounded out the team's record-setting performance.
