Lady Lions Roll Past Huntingdon 55-40 For Fifth Straight Win

In the Lady Lions' fifth consecutive victory forward Sada Wheeler earned her fourth double-double of the season with 29 poinst and 14 rebounds at Huntingdon College this afternoon.

For the fifth consecutive time the Piedmont College women's basketball team emerged victorious, this afternoon at Great South Athletic Conference host Huntingdon College by the score of 55-40. The Lady Lions dominated the paint outscoring the Lady Hawks 46-16 en route to the win.

Forward Sada Wheeler posted her fourth double-double of the season with 29 points and 14 rebounds, both game highs. Point guard Alyssa Jones continued her impressive freshman campaign with 10 rebounds and five assists while senior Lisa Jennings added four assists and three steals.

PC jumped out with the first eight points of the game, four of which came inside from Wheeler. The Lady Lions would extend the margin to a frame-best 13 points with six minutes remaining before entering the locker room with a comfortable 25-17 advantage.

The Lady Hawks played even for the first seven minutes but saw the visitors increase the margin and lead by double digits for the remainder of regulation. After Courtney Clark knocked down a pair of free-throws to increase the margin to a game-high 15 points the buzzer sounded sealing the 55-40 win.

Piedmont, now 10-11 overall and 9-2 in the GSAC, will return to the hardwood again on Tuesday, February 9th as they host league foe Spelman College at Cave Arena starting at 6:00.
