The Piedmont College softball team posted a doubleheader split this evening with local rival Emmanuel College at Walker Field taking the opener 5-3 but falling in the finale 8-0. The Lady Lions move to 5-7 overall and an even 2-2 at home.
Emmanuel held the advantage for the majority of the opening game. PC rallied in the sixth inning cutting the lead to 3-1 with two outs.
LAURA PUCKETT then knotted the game at three runs apiece with a clutch two out single plating a pair. The Lady Lions would tack on two more runs on as many hits to seal the 5-3 win.
Starter
LINDSAY DREVLOW went the distance to pick up her second victory of the young season.
The visitors dominated the second game jumping out with two runs in the top of the first inning. The lead would hold until the fifth when EC added a pair of runs and followed that up with four in the sixth to take the run-rule decision.
KELLIE EDMONDSON and
MICHELLE CRANDALL led the offense in the nightcap going 1-2 with a walk respectively. Emmanuel outhit the Lady Lions 8-3 while both teams left seven runners on base.
Piedmont will look to rebound this weekend as they open Great South Athletic Conference play against visiting Huntingdon College at Walker Field with the doubleheader scheduled for 1:00.
