Adcock Posts Triple Double In 86-74 Victory

Senior Beth Adcock posted her first career triple-double in her final game at Cave Arena in the Lady Lions' 86-74 victory over LaGrange as part of quarterfinal action of the 2009 GSAC Tournament.
The Piedmont College women's basketball team defeated visiting LaGrange College this evening by the score of 86-74 in quarterfinal action of the 2009 GSAC Tournament. In her final game at Cave Arena senior BETH ADCOCK went out in style posting a triple double of 17 points, 10 boards and 10 assists.

The fourth-seeded Lady Lions (10-15) advance to take on top-seeded Maryville College on Friday, February 27th in Maryville, TN with game time set for 5:30.

The visiting Panthers jumped out with the first four points of the game, but saw the lead evaporate as the Lady Lions posted an 11-2 run on three tri-fectas spanning four minutes.

PC extended the advantage to 24-15 with 13 minutes remaining, the largest lead of the half. The visitors ended the half with a 10-2 run to take a slim 40-39 score into the locker room. LC dominated in the paint posting 22 points including 10 second chance points.

In an exciting back and forth second half that featured 11 lead changes and five ties the teams found themselves knotted 55-55 with 11 minutes remaining. The Lady Lions posted five consecutive points, all from senior KAYLA DUNCAN to take control of the action.

The Panthers responded with a 13-3 run as Elizabeth Williams posted four points and three assists. With the visitors clinging to a 70-69  advantage LAURA SIMMONS hit a jumper in the paint and completed the old fashioned three-point play to give the Lady Lions their final lead of the game.  

PC ended the game on a 17-2 run with all the points coming in the paint or from the charity stripe. When the final buzzer sounded the Lady Lions walked away with the 12-point victory and a trip to the Great South Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.

The Lady Lions shot a remarkable 22-26 (85%) from the charity stripe and posted four players in double figures. Joining Adcock was Duncan who produced 17 points in 12 minutes of action. MANDY BEASLEY and LAURA SIMMONS chipped in with 16 and 15 points respectively. 

Adcock's triple double is the first of her career. In addition the guard posted two blocks, two steals and connected on a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe.
