The Piedmont College women's tennis team fell in the 2009 season opener this afternoon at PC's Burgen Tennis Courts to visiting Great South Athletic Conference member LaGrange College 5-4. The teams split the singles matches but the visiting Panthers took two of the three doubles points en route to the win.

TYLER BALDONADO (#3), JENNIFER GRANLUND (#4) and KATIE BUICE (#6) picked up singles victories for the Lady Lions. The #2 doubles tandem of KATIE BUICE and STEPHANIE SMITH won their doubles match 8-5 for the fourth and final team point. The women (0-1, 0-1 GSAC) will look to rebound on Friday, February 27th as they travel to in-state rival Oglethorpe University for a 3:00 start.
