Lady Lions Roll Past Wesleyan

Courtney Odum led five teammates in double figures with 18 points in the Lady Lions' 79-38 drubbing of Wesleyan College this evening at Cave Arena.
The Piedmont College women's basketball team extended its season long winning streak to four games tonight over visiting Great South Athletic Conference member Wesleyan College by the score of 79-38. The Lady Lions posted 42 first half points and connected on a perfect 13-13 from the charity stripe en route to the win.

The Pioneers opened the game with the first six points to take an early advantage. With 10 minutes remaining the Lady Lions trailed 10-9 but answered with a 16-0 run to take the final lead of the game. Piedmont increased the margin forcing four turnovers and connecting on five tri-fectas to take a commanding 42-17 advantage into the half.

In the second frame Wesleyan could not cut the lead below 20 and found themselves trailing 57-34 with seven minutes remaining. The Lady Lions ended the game on a 22-4 run as COURTNEY HALL notched nine points and a pair of assists. When the game clock expired PC walked away with the 41-point victory.

Guard COURTNEY ODUM led five teammates in double figures with a game high 18 points. LAURA SIMMONS and BETH ADCOCK added 13 and 12 points respectively while EMILY WOODWARD posted a career high eight assists.

PC hit 28-67 (42%) shots from the floor including 10 tri-fectas. The women forced 20 turnovers that led to 25 points and received 33 points off the bench.

The women improve to 9-14 overall and 7-4 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions will play host to conference foe Maryville College on Saturday, February 21st beginning at 2:00.
