The Piedmont College baseball team dropped the second of a two game series this afternoon at Loudermilk Field to visiting Millsaps College by the score of 11-7. The Majors posted eight runs in the final three innings to take the four-run decision.
The Lions got on the board in the second inning as
BRANDON HITCH delivered a two-out RBI single. PC added two more in the fourth but surrendered the lead as the Majors (5-0) posted three runs in the top of the fifth. The home team would be held scoreless for the next four innings and went into the ninth trailing 11-3.
In their last at-bat the Lions rallied to score four runs on five hits.
BLAKE ALBERTSON,
KYLE DAVIS, and
ZAC STEIN came off the bench to post single RBI's apiece. The Lions could not overcome the deficit and dropped their second defeat in as many days.
Freshman
ALEX BEEBE went four and two-thirds in his first collegiate start while striking out seven.
BRANDON HITCH led the offense going 3-4 with a pair of runs scored while
COREY LINDSEY and
JUSTIN VORHERR also posted a pair of hits respectively.
Piedmont posted 13 hits, three of which went for extra bases, but rolled into a pair of double plays and stranded seven.
The Lions (1-3) will play host to Sewanee-University of the South at Loudermilk Field on Saturday, February 14th beginning at 1:00.
