Atlanta, GA --
The Piedmont College women's basketball team returned from the holiday break tonight with a 65-56 loss to the host Petrels at the Oglethorpe University Holiday Classic.  The Lady Lions will now face Hope College who entered the event ranked sixth in the latest D3Hoops.com national poll.

Piedmont, who drops to 2-6 overall, got the game off on a good note with the Lady Lions holding a 10-point advantage (22-12) ten minutes into the contest.  Oglethorpe would rebound to close out the half with a 24-9 run and hold a slim 34-31 advantage at intermission.

Oglethorpe would extend its second half lead to double figures only to see the Lady Lions charge back and use a three-point basket by Lindsey Logan to trail by only five with 3:11 remaining.  OU would finish off Piedmont with key baskets and free throws down the stretch.

Piedmont was again plagued by turnovers as the Lady Lions gave away the ball 23 times on the night, including 17 in the first half alone.  The team also had a tough night from the field as they were able to connect on only 28% (20-71) of shots from the field.   PC also shot a slim 48% (8-18) from the charity stripe.

Lindsey Wiley was the only Lady Lion to score in double-figures as she tallied a team-high 18 points on 7-16 from the floor including 4-11 from three-point land.  Lisa Jennings chipped in with nine points.

The opposite side of the draw featured a battle of nationally-ranked teams as #24 Carthage downed #6 Hope 51-47.  Oglethorpe and Carthage will square off in the title game with a PC/Hope matchup set for 1:00 in OU's Dorough Field House.
