Covenant Deals Women's Basketball Fifth Loss 47-41

In the Lady Lions' 47-41 loss at Covenant College this afternoon in Lookout Mountain, GA Amber Satterfield posted eight points and five steals.

For the fifth time this season the Piedmont College women's basketball team fell, this afternoon at the hands of Covenant College by the score of 47-41. The Lady Lions committed 33 turnovers and connected on only 17-53 (32%) of their shots from the floor in the defeat.

PC, now 2-5 overall, will be off for the next two weeks for the holiday break. The squad will return to action again on Monday, December 28th as they travel to the Oglethorpe University Holiday Classic in Atlanta, GA against the tournament host beginning at 8:00.

In a back and forth first half that featured five lead changes the Lady Lions held the home team to a mere 8-28 (29%) from the floor and carried a slim 22-21 advantage into the locker room. In the second frame PC trailed 40-36 before Shanice Wheeler hit a runner to get within a basket with just over two and a half minutes remaining.

In the following possession the Scots connected on a back-breaking three-pointer with the shot clock running down to increase the lead to five. The Lady Lions could get no closer than four down the stretch and dropped the six-point decision.

Courtney Clark led the visitors with nine points on 4-7 shots from the floor. Amber Satterfield and Jordan Gustavel chipped in with eight and seven points apiece.

Covenant held the edge in rebounds 45-34 and cashed in at the charity stripe knocking down 11-16 (69%) compared to the Lady Lions' 2-7 (29%).
