Emory Soars Past Lady Lions 77-50

Courtney Odum posted a team-best 17 points including 5-7 from behind the arc in the Lady Lions' 77-50 loss to in-state rival Emory University this evening in Atlanta, GA.

In the second game of the season series with their in-state rivals the Lady Lions traveled to Emory University tonight in Atlanta, GA and fell by the score of 77-50. PC could only muster 18-63 (29%) from the floor, and committed 23 turnovers that led to 24 points for the Eagles.

Piedmont now stands at 1-11 overall, and will look to snap the current 11-game winless streak on Thursday, January 15th as they host local rival Toccoa Falls College at Cave Arena beginning at 6:00.

In a first half that featured six lead changes the Lady Lions trailed 15-11 at the 14-minute mark and posted an 8-0 run capped by a MANDY BEASLEY steal and layup for their final advantage of the night. The home team responded with a 25-1 run to end the half and take dominating control of the game.   Emory led 40-20 at the half. 

After BETH ADCOCK opened the second half with a three-point field goal, Emory answered with a 10-0 surge to take a 48-23 lead. The Eagles eventually held a 31-point cushion on four occasions. PC could not overcome the deficit and trailed the remainder of regulation by at least 26 points.

COURTNEY ODUM led the squad with 17 points including an impressive 5-7 from behind the arc. MANDY BEASLEY also eclipsed double figures with 11 points and a team best six rebounds, three of which were offensive. BETH ADCOCK also chipped in eight points and a game high four assists.

The Eagles used points by 14 of 15 players that saw action led by Lora Turner who tallied a game best 20 points. The home team dominated the glass 53-35 which led to 15 second chance points. The Lady Lions shot an impressive 7-18 (39%) from the three-point line but struggled from the charity stripe hitting only 7-15 (47%).
