After 71 minutes of scoreless soccer the Piedmont College men's soccer team posted the game winning goal to overcome visiting Great South Athletic Conference member LaGrange College by the score of 1-0 this evening at Walker Field. The Lion defense locked down the Panthers holding them to a single shot on goal.
The victory moves PC to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the Great South. The Lions will take on non-conference foe Southern Wesleyan University at Walker Field on Friday, October 3rd starting at 7:00.
After a scoreless first half, the Piedmont offense took over in the second frame with 10 shots on goal. The game winner came at the 71st minute as senior ALAN CREASY hit a remarkable sliding one-timer past the keeper off a cross from NICK WEATHERBY. The goal is the first of the season for the midfielder and the 10th of his career.
Goalkeeper BRIAN GAID continued his remarkable play between the posts making a game saving stop on a one versus one breakaway in the second half. The Lions outshot the visitors 15-1 and recorded four corner kicks.
