Spelman No Match For Lady Lion Volleyball Team

Sophomore Kalin DeMarrais led the Lady Lions with six service aces in the team's 3-0 victory over Spelman.

The Piedmont College volleyball team posted its ninth straight set victory of the season, this afternoon over the visiting Jaguars of Spelman College by the score of 3-0. With the PC Alumni being recognized the Lady Lions remained perfect at Cave Arena and undefeated in the Great South Athletic Conference.

In the first frame the Lady Lions jumped out early with 12 consecutive points on KALIN DEMARRAIS's service and took the set 25-6. After the Jaguars rallied in the second set to tie the score 15-15 PC took 10 of the final 11 points to win 25-16 and sealed the match with a 25-11 victory in the third.

Middle hitter KATIE TUCKER continued her impressive play with a match high nine kills while NIKKI COLE and MEGHANN CLARK added six kills apiece. DeMarrais was impressive posting a match high six services aces as the Lady Lions combined for 18 as a team.

Setter TYLER BALDONADO notched 27 assists while Tucker, Cole and RACHEL POWELL added three total blocks respectively.

The victory moves the netters to 14-4 overall and 4-0 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions will face Oglethorpe University in the final match of the current homestand on Wednesday, October 1st at Cave Arena beginning at 7:00.
