After dropping the previous two matches the Piedmont College men's soccer team rebounded to defeat visiting USA South foe Ferrum College 5-2 this afternoon at Walker Field. The Lions used
JORGE PRADILLA's third hat trick of the season to power their way past the Panthers and pick up the first victory at home.
Piedmont got on the board first as Pradilla beat the keeper after a tremendous thrrough ball from
JACOB BROWN at the 28th minute. A mere nine seconds later Pradilla struck again, beating the Ferrum defense on a pass from
ALAN CREASY. The 2-0 score would remain thru intermission and into the second half.
At the 58th minute
NICK WEATHERBY notched the eventual game winning goal, the second of his career, with a spectactular shot off a pass from Pradilla. The hat trick was completed for Pradilla just three minutes later as he took a
JON REINERT pass and chipped the keeper for his third goal.
The Panthers rallied with their first goal of the match at the 69th minute but were quickly answered less than 60 seconds later
RYAN SMITH picked up a goal on a pass from Creasy, his second assist of the night. Ferrum notched the final goal of the match with two seconds remaining but it was not enough and the Lions walked away with the three-goal victory.
Piedmont moves to an even 5-5 overall and will resume Great South Athletic Conference on Tuesday, September 30th as they host LaGrange College beginning at 7:30.
