Behind a pair of hat tricks the Piedmont College men's soccer team powered its way past local rival Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, GA this evening by the score of 7-0. The Lions, who competed for the first time in their home state, used six second half goals to cruise to their second shutout of the season.
Piedmont moves to 4-3 overall on the year. The Lions will return to the pitch again on Saturday, September 20th as they host defending Great South Athletic Conference champions Maryville College at Walker Field beginning at 6:00.
PC posted the first and eventual game winning goal early in the first half before the Eagles defense responded. After intermission with the score 1-0 the Lions exploded for six unanswered goals to seal the one-sided victory.
After posting the hat trick in the team's against conference foe Huntingdon College last week, junior JORGE PRADILLA repeated the feat tonight while also picking up his third game winning goal of the season. Fellow forward JEREMY STILLE also posted three goals, the first hat trick of his career.
Freshman Jeffrey Peel capped the scoring in the second half with his first collegiate goal in the green and gold. In addition to their remarkable goal scoring, Pradilla and Stille chipped in a pair of assists respectively. Between the posts BRIAN GAID notched his second shutout of the season.
