Host Millsaps Posts Two Second Half Goals To Upend Piedmont 3-1

Katelyn Induni posted a season high eight saves in PC's 3-1 defeat at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS.

The Piedmont College women's soccer team dropped their second loss of the season this afternoon at NCAA Division-III south region host Millsaps College by the score of 3-1 in Jackson, MS. The Lady Lions capitilized on their opportunities in the first half but could not slow down the offensive explosion from the Majors in the second frame.

MC got on the board first in the 24th minute to take the early advantage. Piedmont responded 11 minutes later as freshman JUSTINE CLAY posted her third career goal beating the keeper unassisted. The two teams remained deadlocked thru intermission and deep into the second half.

The Majors posted the eventual game winning goal at the 65th minute off a corner kick. MC tacked on an insurance goal with 14 minutes remaining to seal the Lady Lions fate. In the second half PC was outshot 15-0 and could only muster one corner kick.

Clay and junior CAITLIN HURD recorded the only shots on goal with two and one respectively. In goal Katelyn Induni notched a season high eight saves to keep PC in the match.

The loss drops the Lady Lions to 3-2 overall. The team will return to action again on Wednesday, September 17th as they resume Great South action against visiting Spelman College at Walker Field beginning at 6:00.
