Methodist Snaps #11 Lions' Three-Game Winning Streak

Monarchs Record Seven Runs On 12 Hits To Upend PC 7-3

Corey Lindsey went a perfect 3-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the #11 Lions' 7-3 loss at Methodist University.

The eleventh-ranked Piedmont College baseball team fell to non-conference host Methodist Universtiy in Fayetteville, NC by the score of 7-3. With the Monarch seniors being recognized prior to the game as well as head coach Tom Austin being honored for his 900th win the home team posted seven runs on 12 hits en route to the victory.

After the Lions went scoreless in the top of the first Methodist posted three runs on four hits to take the only lead of the game. PC cut the margin to two with a single run in the second as COREY LINDSEY posted a two-out RBI-single.

After a scoreless third the Monarchs posted single runs in the next four innings to add to the lead. The Lions rallied for a pair of runs in the seventh with the first run coming on an ANDREW MIGETZ RBI-single. PC could get no closer and dropped the four-run decision.

Lindsey led the offense going 3-3 with an RBI and a run scored while Migetz chipped in with a hit and an RBI. The Lions posted only seven hits and struck out 14 times in the defeat.

The loss drops Piedmont to 33-11 overall. These two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow, May 6th with game time scheduled for 2:00 at MU's Shelley Field.
