Men's Tennis Falls To Huntingdon College 5-2 In GSAC Championship Match

David Gillispie Highlights Year-End Awards Being Named Player of the Year

The Piedmont College men's tennis team wrapped up the 2008 season with a runner-up finish in the Great South Athletic Conference championship match this afternoon in Atlanta, GA. The top-seeded Hawks handed PC a 5-2 loss to take the conference championship.  The loss ends a streak of seven consecutive GSAC conference titles for the PC men's tennis program.

David Gillispie picked up the only singles point of the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #1 singles. The tandem of MOSES DAS and CHRIS LEONARDO also picked up a point at #2 doubles winning 8-6. The Lions finish the 2008 campaign with an overall record of 5-11.

In the conference's year-end awards, PC's David Gillispie was named the Player of the Year. Joining Gillispie on the All-Conference Team was CHRIS LEONARDO while JOEY LEONARDO, Matt Goodall, and ALAN CREASY joined the duo on the All-Academic Team to give the Lions a conference-high five players.
