PC Softball Team Drops 7-2 Decision At Emory

Game Two Of Doubleheader Postponed Due To Stormy Weather

Marissa Harding went 1-3 this afternoon in the Lady Lions' 7-2 loss at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
The Piedmont College softball team dropped a non-conference decision to NCAA Division-III south region host Emory University this afternoon in Atlanta, GA by the score of 7-2. With the storm clouds rolling in game two of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed.

The loss moves PC to 13-8 overall. The women will return to action again on Tuesday, March 1st in the team's Great South Athletic Conference opener against Maryville College in Maryville, TN starting at 2:00.

After going scoreless in the top of the first Emory jumped out to a 4-0 advantage with three runs coming on one swing. The Lady Lions cut the lead in half in the top of the second as NIKKI EASTMAN drove in a run with a single and LEAH DELLA TORRE stole home to cap the scoring.

The Eagles answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second and tacked on an insurance run in the fifth inning. The Lady Lions could only muster three hits over the last five innings en route to the five-run defeat.

Della Torre led PC's offense going 1-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Five other teammates produced a hit apiece while Eastman notched the Lady Lions' only RBI. Emory outslugged Piedmont 9-6 and drove in six of their seven runs.
