PC Softball Team Sweeps Wesleyan

Offense Explodes For 28 Hits And 17 Earned Runs In Non-Conference Victories

The PC softball team exploded for 24 runs on 28 hits in the doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan College tonight in Macon, GA.
The Piedmont College softball team wrapped up its season long 12-game road trip with a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan College in Macon, GA by the scores of 13-1 and 11-1. The Lady Lion offense exploded for 24 runs on 28 hits to take the games in decisive fashion.

The victories move Piedmont to 12-6 overall. The Lady Lions will return to the friendly confines of Walker Field on Thursday, March 27th as they take on NCAA Division-II opponent North Greenville University beginning at 1:00.

In the first game PC jumped out with four runs on as many hits as EMILY MAXEY drove in a pair with a double followed by a LEAH DELLA TORRE two-RBI triple two hitters later to cap the scoring. Wesleyan notched their only run of the game in the bottom of the first making the score 4-1.

The lead remained until PC exploded for a season high nine runs in the fourth inning on six hits and a pair of Pioneer errors. The scoring was highlighted by a two-RBI single from RALEY WHITE followed by a MEGAN DAY three-RBI bases clearing double. LINDSAY DREVLOW went the distance allowing three hits while striking out four.

In game two the Lady Lions broke the scoreless tie in the third inning with five runs on four hits and three Wesleyan errors. The Pioneers answered with their only run of the game in the home half but PC put the game away with two runs in the fifth, on in the sixth and three in the seventh. For the game MICHELLE CRANDALL went 4-5 with four RBI's while B.J. COFER went the distance allowing one earned run while striking out eight.

On the day Crandall paced the offense going 6-9 with four RBI's and four doubles. Day added a 5-8 performance with five RBI's and three runs scored. The Lady Lions outhit Wesleyan 28-8 including a season high 11 extra base hits.
